Today we had the pleasure of hosting an information session for grades one to five about diabetes, in lieu of World Diabetes Day. Our school doctor, Dr. Enas, prepared an informative event that included, blood testing of teachers to measure blood sugar levels and explained the importance of this medical event, which is held worldwide. We talked about what diabetes is, the normal ranges of diagnostic tests, the two types of diabetes, how to manage it and prevent it through dietary health and lifestyle changes. The children were all engaged and had a great time learning.
