Chemistry Overview
Chemistry, a branch of physical science, is the science that examines and
works toward understanding changes in matter, the study of composition,
properties and behavior of matter. Chemistry is sometimes called the central
science because it bridges other natural sciences like physics, geology and
biology with each other. Correlating the insights of Chemistry with Physics,
Mathematics and molecular biology opens vistas that excite and offer upper
opportunities to better the entire world.
The study of chemistry provides the basic terms and concepts of theory of
science as applied to chemistry. This includes methodology of chemical
thinking for example chances of success and failure of logical conclusions in
chemistry. It also includes testing of chemical hypothesis with special regards
to qualitative analysis using lab apparatus and chemicals.
Main strands of the program offered are:
States of matter
The structure of atoms
Material properties
Experiments in chemistry
Chemical and physical change
Solutions
Acid, alkali and neutralization
Water and solutions
Separating mixtures
