MATHEMATICS Overview
Algebra.
Solving equations with and without brackets, operations involving fractional
equations, constructing formulae, substitution of numerical values into
formulae, change subject of a formula, trial and improvement methods.
Measure
Area of a triangle, rectangle, parallelogram and compound shapes, calculate
circumference and area of circles, volume of cuboid, volume of solids with
constant cross sections, volume of cylinder, volume of compound shapes.
Geometry
Construct angles of measures 30, 45, 60, 90, construction of bisecting an
angle, construction to bisect a line, constructing a perpendicular from point to
a line, drawing a given shape to scale, angles of elevation and depression,
using bearings to find distances, congruency of triangles, finding missing side
using different cases of congruency.
Coordinate geometry and Transformations
Equation of straight line passing through origin, plotting graph of given
equation, gradient of straight lines, the equation y = mx + c , lines that do not
pass through origin, lines parallel to axes, line and rotational symmetry,
transformation through translation ,reflection and rotation, using vectors to
describe translation, finding mirror line of reflection, finding center of rotation
and angle of rotation, finding center of rotation by constructing
perpendiculars, finding center of enlargements, find an image under
enlargement, enlargements using scale factors.
