BIOLOGY Overview

Biology is a natural science and intellectual adventure concerned with the study
of life and living organisms which includes their structure, function, growth,

evolution, distribution, and taxonomy. What living organisms are made of, how
they operate, how they get their energy, how they reproduce and how they have

evolved from primitive forms to the astounding modern diversity of forms and
functions.

The Biology program provides Insights into living systems form the sub-cellular
level to the ecosystem level. It provides the basic terms and concepts of theory
of science. This includes life and living organisms including life processes and
biochemical reactions. Living organisms, their structures and functions, origin,

growth, distribution, evolution and taxonomy.
Main strands of the program offered are:
Living things in their environment
Humans as organism
Plants, their structures and classification
Cells and organisms
The following are the main topics which we will be covered in grade 7.
Living things in their environment
Organisms’ adaptation to their habitat
Food chains, food webs and energy flow.
Role of decomposers.
