MATHEMATICS Overview
The Mathematics department aims at enabling students to acquire a foundation of
mathematical skills appropriate to further study and continued learning in
mathematics and develop a foundation of mathematical skills and apply them to
other subjects and to the real world.
We inculcate in students methods of problem solving, encourage them to interpret
mathematical results and understand their significance, and develop patience and
persistence in solving problems.
And thus build a positive attitude towards mathematics which encourages
enjoyment, fosters confidence and promotes enquiry and further learning.
We make use of interactive white board and multimedia technology. We give projects
and activities based on topics they learn and encourage to present them.
Competitions are held though mathematical computer games, quizzes and hands-on
activities.

Numbers and Operations
Algebra
Mensuration
Geometry
Coordinate Geometry and Transformations
Trigonometry
Statistics and Probability
Problem Solving Techniques
The following are the main topics which we will be covered in Grade 7
Numbers and operations.
Indices, multiplying and dividing numbers in index form, writing numbers in standard
form, rounding numbers to given place value, correcting to decimal places, significant
figures, expressing percentages as fractions and vice versa, finding percentage of
quantity, percentage increase and decrease, simplifying ratios, find missing quantities
using ratios, proportions, find squares and square roots of numbers.
